Ana Urgiles

UC Berkeley Law

1L Scholar

Scholarship sponsored by

Fenwick & West LLP

Growing up in low-income, Latinx neighborhoods, Ana experienced the hardships caused by gun violence, deportations, and underfunded schools. Her family relied on community organizations to help fund legal and educational services that allowed them to obtain citizenship and have access to quality education. It was the impact of these organizations and community members that inspired Ana’s commitment to increasing access to inclusive education and legal representation for those historically excluded from such resources. During college, Ana participated in immigrants’ rights clinics documenting the experiences of Californians seeking asylum and conducted immigration policy research. After graduating, she worked at a non-profit helping to connect Californians with pro bono assistance in immigration and record clearance matters. Ana will continue advocating for underserved communities and addressing institutional inequalities through the legal sector. Ana received her BA from Stanford University and is pursuing her JD as a ChangeLawyer at Berkeley Law.
