Markisha Roches knew that she wanted to make a lasting impact on victims of violent crimes after seeing violence in her neighborhood and even amongst members of her own family. A 1L ChangeLawyer at Southwestern Law School, her goal is to clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where she once worked as a victim advocate. She hopes to work alongside the attorneys of the Violence Impact Unit at the Compton Superior Courthouse. While there, she aims to assist as well as gain experience to one-day return as a trial lawyer. Markisha wants to create a better legal system that guides victims throughout the criminal justice system. Markisha is a ChangeLawyer because she is committed to public service and wants to make every victim feel heard and whole after a time of tragedy.
